2-Nov-2015 tropo & 3cm continental contacts

I was excited to get my first continental contacts on 3cm last month.

Signals were strong on 23cm and with 8W to 44el Wimo I worked:
151102 1447 1296 A1A DK7QX 559 539 709 JO42KH
151102 1832 1296 A1A F6DKW 559 529 577 JN18CS
151102 1844 1296 J3E DL9EAJ 59 59 580 JO31DH
151102 1929 1296 J3E DK1VC 59 56 655 JO31RG

So I tried 3cm with Horst & was surprised to work him with 250mW to the 60cm dish, and doubly surprised that we did this using SSB:
151102 1938 1036 J3E DK1VC 53 51 655 JO31RG

Later I caught up with F6DKW again, this time on 3cm:
151102 2227 1036 A1A F6DKW 559 529 577 JN18CS

This is not an easy direction for me as I have the hill-top to the south
of me, so Maurice was over the shoulder of the hill. I was very
surprised to work him on 3cm.

I didn’t hear any continental beacons on 3cm. The only beacons I’ve heard so far on this band are GB3FNY and GB3MAN (via rain scatter).

The next day, there was still a bit of tropo about & on 23cm I worked:
